Landing in Auckland
What struckme the moment I saw New Zealand from the airplane was how perfectlyclean the air was. There was absolutely no smog. I saw vast areas ofgreen and, as we flew lower, a clear blue ocean dotted with hundreds ofwhite sails. No wonder Auckland is called "the City of Sails"!
Sky Tower and sky jumping
Soon after my arrival, I went to the observation deck of the 192-meter Sky Tower, the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere. In seconds, I was overlooking beautiful Auckland. In the distance, I could see some of the area's 48 dormant volcanoes. I also found myself gawking at the many "sky jumpers" who went bungee jumping off the tower!
