为期一周空袭告一段落，以色列国防军大批地面部队3日晚间(北京时间4日凌晨近3时许)开进加沙地带。以军方发言人说，地面部队行动的目的是摧毁巴勒斯坦伊斯兰抵抗运动(哈马斯)进行恐怖活动的基础设施并“控制”那些巴勒斯坦武装分子用来向以色列发射火箭的地区。
