  发源地:丹麦
  作为品牌的乐高,“LEGO”是丹麦语“leg godt”的合成品,意思是“play well”(玩得好),在拉丁语里,这个词的意思是“I put together”(我把它们砌好了)。乐高用“play on”(一直玩)作为品牌的自我表述,与“LEGO”“play well”的品牌含义一脉相承。
乐高积木现在已是儿童喜爱的玩具。这种塑料积木一头有凸粒,另一头有可嵌入凸粒的孔,形状有1300多种,每一种形状都有12种不同的颜色,以红、黄、蓝、白、黑为主。它靠小朋友自己动脑动手,可以拼插出变化无穷的造型,令人爱不释于,被称为“魔术塑料积木”。乐高积木的故乡就在丹麦。
  乐高积木的发明者是奥勒•基奥克,他1891年生于丹麦比隆附近的菲尔斯哥夫村。他有一手精湛的木匠手艺,年轻时就热衷于制作各种小玩具,出自他手的小飞机、汽车、动物个个形态逼真、惟妙惟肖。尽管他不懂经商,玩具经常滞销,但这并未使他放弃自己的爱好。后来,他设计的拼插玩具“约约”终于风靡一时。1934年,他为自己的积木玩具设计了“乐高”商标。
