A photograph of vice president Dick Cheney that
appears on the White House Web site has caused a stir on the Internet, causing
some people to wonder what he is actually looking and smiling at.
However
the mystery has now been solved.
The image reflected in Cheney's
sunglasses is none other than Eliot Spitzer call girl Ashley Alexandre Dupre,
who attended a fishing trip with the VP 2 years ago.
"Clearly the picture
shows a naked woman" Cheney spokeswoman Meagan Mitchell said, according to fox
news. "He always invited Dupre fishing - it's totally innocent - it was hot God
Damn it - she was entitled to take of her clothes."
Dupre has confirmed
that it is her reflected in Cheney's shades. "It's all true, I love fishing with
Dick, I told him I was hot and I just wanted to take off my top. He just smiled.
No mystery."
Cheney was unavailable for comment as he was heading to
England to visit the now famous 'London Dungeon'.
THE internet is abuzz with a
heated debate as to whether US Vice President Dick Cheney went fly fishing with
a naked woman.
Since Wednesday, internet blogs and forums have been
scrutinising a White House photograph of Mr Cheney, according to newswire MCT.
The photo – a close-up of Mr Cheney's face – shows him sporting dark
sunglasses and a grin.
But it's the reflection in the Vice President's
sunglasses which is spilling a lot of cyber ink. Some believe the reflection
looks like a naked woman.
On DemocracticUnderground.com, one internet
user kicked off the debate with the following posting:
"Notice anything
… interesting … reflected in his sunglasses? Something that has little to do
with conventional 'fly fishing'?"
On sportsshooter.com, a website
dedicated to professional photography, another user came to their own
conclusion:
"Naked woman? That explains his heart problems!!"
Not everyone agreed. Some, including White House staff, could see only
the profile of a man's face and cigar, according to MCT.
On AOL's
Political Machine, readers could vote on what they thought was reflected in the
sunglasses.
But what does the Vice President think? His office issued
the following statement:
"Clearly the picture shows a hand casting a
rod," said spokeswoman Meagan Mitchell.
And one digital technology
expert agreed.
"In one lens of his sunglasses you can clearly tell it is
a sleeved arm of Mr Cheney or a fishing companion. The other lens has an extreme
distortion that, without looking at it closely, could be misconstrued," said
investigative photo editor George Bridges of McClatchy/Tribune Information
Services.
No:
That is not a naked woman
reflected in Vice President Dick Cheney's sunglasses. Although it kind of
appears to be.
It you blow up the picture, you
can see it is Cheney's hand gripping the handle of a fishing rod.
The picture was posted on the
White House Web site as one in a series of photos of Cheney outdoors. It created
a buzz on the Internet on Friday and some cable television shows.

President Cheney, and a close-up of his sunglasses during a fishing trip on the
Snake River in Idaho. That is not a naked woman reflected in Vice President Dick
