Obama will be the first president since Lincoln to use the burgundy velvet Bible with gilded edges purchased and inscribed by William Thomas Carroll, clerk of the Supreme Court. The verse to which the Bible will be open, if any, was not disclosed.
Lincoln's inaugural Bible is kept at the Library of Congress in Washington.
