德怀特•艾森豪威尔1953年使用了两本圣经：一本华盛顿用过的共济会圣经和一本他从西点军校毕业时母亲赠送的圣经，并将圣经打开到历代志下第7章第14节。在1957年连任就职仪式上他只用了后一本圣经，并翻到诗篇第33章第12节。

In 1953 Eisenhower used two Bibles: the Masonic Bible used by Washington; and one his mother gave him upon graduation from West Point, opened to II Chronicles 7:14. He used only the West Point Bible in 1957, opened to Psalm 33:12.
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance."
