　　位于希腊北部的小镇韦尔吉纳的考古遗址，被视为古代马其顿人的首都艾加伊城的遗址。1977年，考古学家在此遗址中发现有马其顿王国皇室墓群，其中可能有亚历山大之父腓力二世和亚历山大四世的墓穴，两座墓穴中都装饰着精美的壁画，被保留下来的巨大宫殿用马赛克和灰泥装饰。整个遗迹有300多个坟墓，其中有些为公元前11世纪建造。1996年，联合国教科文组织将韦尔吉纳的考古遗址作为文化遗产，列入《世界遗产名录》。

　　研究人员表示，被认为是亚历山大之父的这个古希腊陵墓其实是亚历山大的同父异母兄弟的墓。这意味着在此墓中发现的一些文物，包括一个头盔、一幅盔甲和一顶银制王冠应该属于亚历山大大帝本人的。

A new analysis of a tomb excavated in Greece in the 1970s suggests that it is the last resting place of Alexander the Great's half brother and not his father, as was previously believed. The new interpretation may mean that artifacts found in the tombs, including a shield, "crown," and scepter, once belonged to Alexander the Great himself.
