叙利亚首次服装设计比赛，是为了鼓励年轻人才和本地产品的发展。但最重要的是它将成为近期努力软化叙利亚专制国家形象的一部分。
Syria's glitzy first ever design competition was meant to encourage young talents and local products. But perhaps most importantly, it was part of recent efforts to soften Syria's image and open up the authoritarian country.
